How To Choose A Vet
Perhaps the most important part of your journey alongside a fur-ever companion is their health. As pet lovers we all want the best for our dogs and are committed to providing the care that they need. Standard vaccines, annual shots, general hygienic care, and regular evaluations are all key parts to providing for your pup’s medical needs. Consider a couple items when choosing a veterinary home for your new furry friend: ease of access and comfortability.
One of the most beneficial elements of our puppy wellness plan is the relationship that we have with our veterinarian. Having our Vet’s cell phone and email information has been a priceless tool over the years as dogs can have needs that are unpredictable. We have received instant consultation for the wide array of “adventures” that we have encountered. We’ve been worked into schedules and given convenient scheduling of visits because of our personal relationship with our Vet. We have a long-standing relationship with our Vet, as they have cared for each one of our dogs throughout their entire lifetime. This relationship has proven impossible to price.
Trust is the most important element of your relationship with your Vet. You must feel comfortable with the staff and trained professionals that will be administering care to your precious baby! Ask questions like, “How well does this Vet communicate prognosis?”, “What is this Vet’s specialty or strength?”, “How personable is the Vet? Can I understand the language in which they communicate?”, “Is the staff friendly and accommodating?”. Make sure that you take the time necessary to get to know your caretakers and develop a solid understanding of how their practice works.
There may be many other factors involved in selecting a veterinary practice to provide care to your pet such as, cost, location, reputation, and referral. These two factors are the most important to us when we first went through the process of selecting a veterinarian.
