What are “The Zoomies” ???

If you and your family don’t know what “the zoomies” are, you’ll be sure to find out soon. When your pup seems to run around your space at light-speed for no clear reason, those are the zoomies. Veterinary professionals that we have asked about this erratic behavior that we observe have given us a few reasons for why your pup might do this. First of all, many pups will expend energy quickly this way at key points throughout their day like when they are let out of their crate, after meals, or before bed. For us, we feel like we observe the zoomies around nine o’clock at night, just before bed. Zoomies are also known as Frenetic Random Activity Periods (FRAPs) and are perfectly normal behaviors that many pups demonstrate. They can occur suddenly out of the blue or may be linked to other parts of your pup’s daily routine. Most dogs will naturally do them a bit less as they get older, but exercising and stimulating your dog appropriately will usually keep excessive zoomies at bay.
